Awareness ribbons are symbols meant to show support or raise consciousness for a cause. Different colours and patterns are associated with different issues. The most popular colours are pink (breast cancer awareness), red (AIDS awareness) and purple (Alzheimer's disease).

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which is an annual campaign to increase awareness of the disease. While most people are aware of breast cancer, many forget to take the steps to have a plan to detect the disease in its early stages and encourage others to do the same.

This awareness was practived in our school too. On the last day of October several members of staff and students commemorated the month by wearing a piece of pink clothing.  Besides the following presentations were prepared:

Pink is a romantic, feminine colour. It is derived from red and white, so it tones down the physical passion of the red and replaces it with a gentle and loving energy. Pink is a sign of hope. It is a positive colour that inspires warmth and comfortable feelings. As we all have heard “everything is rosy” it is an indication of good health and success.

Abigail, Nirayl and Aurora take the opportunity to discuss the different aspects of the colour pink. They take a look at the culture, music, sayings in pink and Breast Cancer Day.
