Which colours should be used in marketing?

Colour and marketing go hand in hand with each other. The use of colour in the marketing of a particular business, whether it is in advertising or products, can send either a positive or negative subconscious message, resulting in the creation of a good or bad perception of the business or product.

In advertisements we encounter the use of so many colours. Some companies use monocolours, others a variety of colours. Some companies choose very bright colours, others use monotonous ones. Why do they choose particular colours? Is it because of the meanings associated with the colours?
