The Kingdom of Colours

Collaborative Activity 1

The Kingdom of Colours

Italian and Maltese students worked on a collaborative story, based on the theme of colours, using Google slides. 2 Italian students at the end decided on adding some drawings to illustrate the story.  Hope you enjoy reading this colourful story :P

Collaborative Activity 2

Dutch & Maltese Students Meet!

Dutch

12 Dutch students together with their 2 teachers visited Malta between the 16th and 20th April. In the following presentation, you can follow a video showing all the collaborative activities held during the 3 days. It was an enjoyable activity, with a high degree of socialisation between students and teachers.

Collaborative Activity 3

What have we learnt?

Kahoot

This activity was a collaborative one and involved Art, Biology & ICT students.  It was the first of a list of concluding interactive activities with the aim of involving the students to a maximum. In all these activities the students had special permission to bring their own devices.  Nine teams of 3 to 5 students participated in this activity.

It consisted of a Kahoot! quiz, involving questions from topics discussed throughout the project.

Collaborative Activity 4

A selfie with a colourful & positive thought!

Selfie

Lets take a selfie was an initaitive of the Maltese students. Students were expected to take a selfie at school, edit it and add any filters as required, and finally add a meaningful, positive or colourful saying that reflects their thoughts or characters. They also sent emails to invite foreign students to participate in the activity too. It carried out by our partners from Italy and Ukraine, and a final collaborative ebook was created (see below):

The following are the selfies of the 8 Maltese teams:

Collaborative Activity 5

Creating Art Using Fruit & Vegetables

Art & Fruit

Eating a healthy diet is important; including a variety of colours in our diet is even more important. This was the idea behind this activity. The students were asked to research and eventually create art work using only fruit and vegetables. Besides testing for the students' creativity, the aim was to teach them that the several different colours included in their work signified a variety of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. All fruit and vegetables were, at the end, either eaten by the students themselves, or taken back home to be used or eaten. None of the food was wasted!

The following shows the students at work:

The following are some videos taken during the activity; all were taken and edited by the members of the teams.

Collaborative Activity 6

Yes to Diversity in Colour

Posters

This exercise expected the students to promote inclusion in terms of skin colour. They were expected to design a poster - manually or digitally - and include a slogan related to diversity and inclusion. For this particular activity, the Maltese students were also joined by students from Belgium, Italy and Ukraine. For this particular activity our common slogan was:

Colours DO NOT M@tter

The following is a collaborative poster of all handed in posters.

Collaborative Activity 7

Extracting Pigments From Food

Pigments

This activity was a collaborative activity between the Art and Biology students. Natural dyes from plants were extracted by the biology students during the Biology lesson. The colours extracted were later used by the Art students to make tie and dye experimentations. The various pieces of cloth used in the Tie and Dye process were used to create a very colourful Eight Pointed Maltese Cross.
